Cao Studio is Packed in a Pudding Cup
We’ve been working many tireless nights on an animation project for Snack Pack, and we’re ready to reveal it to the blog world.  Take a peek at the Snack Pack website to see our animated pudding cups on their front page, and join us as we throw our jazz hands in the air with excitement.   Think we’re done bragging?  No way.  Be on the lookout next week for more Cao Studio...

Check out this behind-the-scenes cuteness!  We just put together a fun little video that shows our Cao Studio crew having fun on the set of the Alien Family project.  Gasp as you view the glory of all the adorable handmade paper aliens, laugh as you watch confetti fly through the air, and clap your hands like a happy circus seal as you imagine yourself dancing with cloth tentacle arms.   A big...

Let There Be Light!
Is Howard actually shooting tech photos for a job using natural light?  Alert the press!  This is the dawn of a new era.

Zooey the hamster loves making tiny Jell-O...
Remember that book of Jell-o recipes that Angie photographed?  Apparently the book’s author, Victoria Belanger, is doing double duty both as the Jell-o Mold Mistress of Brooklyn and as the official photographer for her pet hamster Zooey.  We like to think that this photo is merely a snapshot documenting a common event in Zooey’s everyday life. Little furry animals!  Jell-O!...

We're seeing RED!
Mr. Postman delivered a fancy new toy to our doorstep yesterday, along with a bulk order of diapers and a fresh supply of Blue Bottle coffee.  While we’re a big fan of caffeine and preventing carpet poops, this RED Scarlet has topped our list of favorite things in the world.   Watch out, Señor Spielbergo, Howard is coming for your director’s chair!

Wondering why Howard has been so quiet lately?  Several NDA projects had forced him to set up camp in a secret cave of video editing, visual effects and post production.  After months of agonizing anticipation, one of these projects has officially been released to the public.   Cao Studio is proud to present: Alien Family! Alien Family is a brand spankin’ new game that you can download for...

Making a Good Latte is an Art in Itself.
“My mission as a barista is to provide an honest and enjoyable experience that my customers will return for.” - Tom Baker, barista and latte artist extraordinaire. When Angie found herself in need of some pretty latte photos for her portfolio, Tom came to her rescue.  Try as we might, we just can’t seem to replicate his skills on our own espresso drinks at the studio.  While...

Did you hear the joke about the peanut butter?
We’re not telling you.  You might spread it!   Your stomach is probably aching from laughing so hard, so why not sooth it with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?  Yesterday Angie spent some quality time reminiscing about her childhood with these sweet and sticky finger foods.  Just like that awful joke, this meal is best suited for the fun-loving kid in all of us. www.caostudio.com

February is for Lovers (of sugar)
February is a sugar addict’s dream! We normally keep an embarrassing amount of sweets at the studio, so throw Valentine’s Day into the mix and all bets are off.  Heart shaped candy suddenly seems like the perfect side dish to compliment our lunchtime soup and sandwich. What could make this month even sweeter, you ask?  A book full of Jell-O recipes, of course!  Ten Speed Press...

Lara's Pretty Floors
Last week Angie had the pleasure of teaming up with Lara Hoffman, an independent shopper and interior design consultant with an eclectic style and a passion for patterns.  Upon entering her work space, we were overwhelmed by all the pretty things. Between the vintage grandeur chandelier, the orange striped zebra rug, and the superhero paintings, Angie had plenty to keep her camera busy.  What...

Wolheim Brings All the Boards to the Yard
We love prop stylist Christine Wolheim for a multitude of reasons, but right now we feel like bragging about her finely tuned ability to select surfaces and backgrounds that compliment our recipes perfectly.  Can we keep her forever?

Thinking Warm Thoughts
Several months ago Angie shot some photos for a notecard set published by Chronicle Books.  We just received them in the mail, and we couldn’t be happier.  It’s nice having some springtime inspiration when winter is staring us in the face.  The holidays were fun and all, but we’d like to skip ahead one season if that’s ok.

Holidays According to Angie
Angie’s new wintery photo makes us want to kick back and stuff our faces with holiday cheer.  The food was styled by Fanny Pan, and Christine Wolheim was our wonderful prop stylist.  We hope your holidays are delicious!

Eat your heart out, Charlie Brown!
Howard carried the burden of picking out the studio’s Christmas tree this year.  Are you at all surprised by his choice?

Dan's Departure
This week we raised our glasses, wiped our tears, and said goodbye to Dan, our loyal and hardworking intern who swept his way to the top.  We talked a lot of trash about Dan in the blog, but he was a seriously good guy to have around.  He’s getting ready to graduate college and enter the big scary world of digital imaging.  Dan, we salute you! …but can you just make us ONE more...

Angie's Diabolical Sweet Tooth
When your morning starts with cupcakes, gumballs, and sugar pearls, you know you’re in for a good day.  Angie loves photographing cute sugary things for two reasons: She has a big fat sweet tooth. She is determined to send the entire studio into diabetic shock. Angie begins every shoot just like every other photographer.  She stretches, does a few jumping jacks, throws punches in the...

Angie and howard have hit the road on their way to bellies full of food, and we hope you’re on a similar quest.  Regardless of whether you’re traveling far and wide for the perfect spoonful of cranberry sauce or staying home with a Hungry Man TV dinner, we hope you have an awesome holiday.  Cheers!

Fanny and Angie: Photoshoot Shenanigans
Angie and Fanny Pan (food stylist extraordinaire) got together on Tuesday to make some magic.   Angie was excited about using her brand spankin’ new view camera.   Angie ruins another Kodak moment: Calling Giggles McGee to the set! Fanny was finally able to get some work done once Angie stopped picking on her. Angie has so much enthusiasm for photography that it shoots out her...

Sometimes we like our jobs, and sometimes we love our jobs.   Howard just came back from Fresno, where he did some quality location scouting for a personal project he’s working on.  Spoiler alert:  it involves guns and things that go BOOM.   Here’s some video footage of tough-guy photographer and Cao Studio partner Michael L’Heureux helping us out with some very important...

Something borrowed, something blue
Angie’s in the process of cooking up something new.  She paid a visit to Carol Hacker of Tableprop Rentals to snatch some props for an upcoming shoot.  With all these different shades of blue, we wonder what Angie’s got up her sleeve.  Is she producing a shoot inspired by her favorite movie, “The Blues Brothers”?  Or did she decide to relive her high school prom theme by...

Angie Cao: Queen of the Internet
A hardy congratulations is in order for our contest winner, Angie Cao.  She wrestled that contest into submission!  It’s been an extraordinarily busy week at the studio, but we promise to launch a pie into Howard’s face next week.  We’ll have photos of Howard’s sad face to share with you, accompanied by an interview with Angie on her winning strategy.
